Three easy ways to customize your shower screen

If you want your bathroom to have some extra charm, all you need to do is order a shower screen and decorate it. It's incredibly easy to turn shower screens into a work of art, making your bathroom just as stylish as the rest of your house!

Here are three easy ways to make any shower screen be the star of your bathroom show:

1. Decorative window film

If you have a glass shower screen, you can glam it up by putting decorative window film over it. You can find coloured films, translucent patterned ones and even ones with clear and opaque parts alternating. If you want to make your shower screen a work of art, opt for a decorative film with a stained-glass window pattern. You could even add the same film on your bathroom windows if you want to go all the way! Take a shower and admire the way your body turns into a work of art with the light coming through your fancy screen.

If you don't want something decorative, there are also films that only make the whole screen opaque, foggy or have a one-way mirror effect.

Applying the film is easy — you wet the screen first, wipe it down, then apply the film slow and steady. Don't forget to keep pressing all the while to prevent air bubbles being trapped.

2. Paint it all the colours of the rainbow

…or only some of them. Regardless if your shower screen is made of glass, plastic or anything else, there are paints specially made for that material in specialty stores.

Grab some, and make your own painting or pattern on the screen. You can easily make a striped, plaid or chevron pattern by blocking out areas you don't want painted with masking tape. Or you can draw a whole picture if you've got the inclination. Use contrasting colours if you want the screen to act as a centrepiece — for example, if you've got blue tiles, make your glass screen painting with oranges, yellows and corals.

All you need is a paintbrush and some paint to get started. Be careful not to dilute the paints too much or else they will run down the screen and ruin the whole painting.

3. Add fun stickers

If you're not artistically inclined or aren't in the mood to put much effort into decorating, try some stickers. There are a lot of shower screen stickers available on the market, from the classy to the funny, from crude to dainty. To apply them you have to follow the instructions on the package, and you're done!

Your bathroom doesn't have to be plain, all you need is a little patience and some shower screen space to play with.

How to Redesign the Interior of Your Home

Hello, my name is Mary. I live alone in a large house in Perth. I never used to give a second thought to all these interior design programmes you see on the TV. I thought it was all nonsense. However, after my husband passed away a few years ago, I fell into a deep depression. I didn't leave the house for weeks. My son came to visit me and suggested that I redecorate the family home. He called in an interior designer who talked me through the changes I could make. Planning a new look for my home really helped me to overcome my grief. I decided to start this blog to encourage others to use interior design to improve their lives.
